Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is coaching?

When most people hear the word “coach”, some image around sports comes to mind. I practice a much different type of coaching. I begin with the assumption that each of my clients is creative, resourceful and whole. As such, the answers they are seeking are already inside them - and can be drawn out. My coaching process utilizes self-awareness tools combined with a series of structured conversations to enable my clients to discover solutions for their best path forward.

  • How is coaching different from mentoring?

With mentoring, the client is usually the one asking questions of their mentor to benefit from the mentor’s experience. Mentoring then is more closely aligned to consulting rather than coaching.

  • What does a coaching engagement look like?

Typically, a coach and client will work together two sessions a month for six months. These 12, bi-weekly sessions can be virtual via Zoom, in-person, or a combination of both.

If at any point during the six months the client wishes to discontinue their coaching, they are free to do so.

  • What topics can I get coaching for?

That is totally up to the client. They come to each session with a subject, concern or issue they are dealing with and would like to take a “coach approach” to discussing it.

The client may have a theme to the overall coaching engagement, but if something urgent pops up right before a session, they may choose to discuss that instead.

Each theme to a coaching engagement is unique to each client, but here are some common areas that benefit from working with a coach:

    • Increase self-awareness of strengths and growth areas.

    • Self-management, prioritization, and focusing on the important, not just the urgent.

    • Improve overall work performance.

    • Improve collaborating and working in a team environment.

    • Develop leadership and team building skills.

    • Deciding the best path forward.

  • How much does coaching cost?

The investment for 12 coaching sessions is $2500. This fee also covers two self-awareness profiles, as well as a copy of the book “The Road Back To You” by Ian Cron.

The investment is payable upon client signing of the coaching contract prior to the first session. A monthly payment plan option to spread out the investment over six months is available upon request.

If a client wishes to discontinue the coaching engagement, a full refund will be made for any remaining sessions.

  • Are coaching sessions confidential?

From the coach’s perspective, yes, they cannot discuss session content with anyone except the client. The client, however, is free to discuss their coaching conversations with whomever they want. This confidentiality is mandated by the ICF Code of Ethics which all our coaches adhere to.

  • Can I enroll an employee of my business for coaching?

Yes, providing the employee is agreeable to being coached. If the company is underwriting the cost of coaching, this is called a three-way agreement between the client, their employer and the coach.

In a three-way agreement, the first and final sessions can include the client’s manager, but all updates and all information shared is done so by the client. The coach cannot share information with the company without the client’s consent and presence.

  • I'm not in Sales. Are you the right coach for me?

Actually, we’re all in sales, whether that word is in our business title or not. Sales is being genuinely interested in others, asking questions to understand what they are trying to achieve or avoid in their life, and then figuring out if we have a way to help them do that. You probably have examples of that every day in your life.

My coaching model centers around increasing your self awareness, clarifying what you want most to accomplish, and charting a course to get there. It will be beneficial to you regardless of your chosen profession.

  • What happens if I miss a session?

All sessions are prepaid at the beginning of the engagement. We understand that schedule conflicts happen, so any session can be rescheduled with a minimum 12-hour notice to your coach.

Any session cancelled less than 12 hours prior to your session is considered a “no show”. You are allowed one “no show” session during the engagement, and your coach will work with you to reschedule that session.

Any additional “no show” sessions will not be reimbursed or rescheduled.

  • What are the self-awareness profiles?

I partner with the Enneagram Institute® and The TableGroup®. The Enneagram provides self-awareness of you as an individual, and the Working Genius profile from The TableGroup® provides awareness of how you work best within a team structure.

  • Do I get a refund if I don't achieve my goals?

Nice try, but, no. The investment pays for the tools and the coach’s time and expertise throughout the engagement. The work, and subsequent results, rest solely with the client.
